Directional Swing Mode

Setting key
directional_swing_mode
Default
OFF

What it does

When ON, switches the directional engine to shorter-duration, more aggressive swing trades. Swing mode uses a 7-21 DTE band instead of 30-45, an ATM long leg at 0.50 delta instead of 0.68, a tighter 40% profit target instead of 82%, and adds a time-exit rule (close a profitable swing once 50% of its original DTE has elapsed). Swing mode fields are consulted only when this is ON.

When to change it

Turn ON when you have a short-duration directional view: a catalyst that should resolve in days, not weeks. Leave OFF for standard trend trades.

Safe range

ON or OFF.

Example

FOMC decision day. You expect a sharp move in the next few sessions. With swing_mode=ON, the bot uses a 14 DTE expiration and targets 40% profit or exit at 7 DTE (50% of original DTE elapsed).
