Earnings Target DTE Max

Setting key
earnings_target_dte_max
Default
14

What it does

Maximum DTE on the post-earnings expiration. Keeps the earnings play short-dated so the IV-crush thesis resolves quickly. Positions held past 14 DTE start to look like mechanical trades without the IV-crush edge.

When to change it

Widen to 21 only if the 1-14 window consistently lacks a clean expiration after the earnings date.

Safe range

10 (tight) to 21 (wider).

Example

Earnings on Tuesday after close. The bot considers any expiration that falls after the report out to the Friday two weeks later (about 14 DTE); anything further out is rejected. Entry timing itself is governed by the proximity gate, not this band.
