What it does
Enables outright long put purchases in the directional engine. A long put profits when the underlying falls below the strike. Like long calls, long puts are penalized in scoring and only entered when a spread or funded pair cannot be constructed. Full premium is at risk.
When to change it
Leave OFF unless you specifically want outright long puts. The bear put spread and bearish pair provide similar directional exposure with better risk profiles.
Safe range
ON or OFF. Default OFF.
Example
Strong bearish signal on a name where the put spread cannot be structured at a reasonable debit. With long_put_enabled ON, the engine buys a single put instead of skipping.
