Profit Ladder

3 settings on this page.

Mechanical Profit Ladder Enabled

Setting key
mechanical_profit_ladder_enabled
Default
OFF

What it does

Scale-out toggle for the mechanical engine. When ON, replaces the single 50% profit target with a three-step ladder: close 25% of the position at 25% profit, close 50% of the remainder at 50% profit, close everything remaining at 75% profit. Reduces variance while leaving runners. Off by default pending live-fill validation.

When to change it

Turn ON after you have confirmed the bot's fill behavior on multi-leg exits in a live account. The ladder requires partial fills that are not reliably testable in sandbox.

Safe range

ON or OFF.

Example

2-contract iron condor. At 25% profit: close 1 contract (25% of 2). At 50% of remaining credit on the open contract: close half that. At 75%: close the rest.

Earnings Profit Ladder Enabled

Setting key
earnings_profit_ladder_enabled
Default
OFF

What it does

Scale-out toggle for the earnings engine. Same mechanics as the mechanical ladder (25%/50%/75% thresholds, 25%/50%/100% close fractions). Off by default. Earnings positions are typically 1 contract; the ladder only has meaningful effect at 2+ contracts.

When to change it

Leave OFF until live-fill behavior is confirmed. Especially low priority for earnings given the standard 1-contract sizing.

Safe range

ON or OFF.

Example

Earnings position with 2 contracts. IV crush fires overnight: position up 60% at open. With ladder ON: would have scaled out 25% at 25% profit, then 50% of remainder at 50%. The final tranche rides the remaining crush.

Contraction Profit Ladder Enabled

Setting key
contraction_profit_ladder_enabled
Default
OFF

What it does

Scale-out toggle for the contraction engine. Same three-step ladder as the mechanical engine. Off by default. Contraction trades are short-dated (7-21 DTE), so the ladder's first step at 25% profit may fire very quickly on fast vol mean-reversion, which is the intended behavior.

When to change it

Turn ON after live-fill validation if you want to lock partial profits on fast vol contractions.

Safe range

ON or OFF.

Example

Contraction trade entered when IVR = 83. Next day IVR falls to 60, position at 30% profit. With ladder ON: 25% close fires (25% profit threshold crossed). Remaining position closes when IVR reaches 30 (iv_normalized exit).
